Amami Oshima's Tatugou town is an active town of home Oshima pongee. The strong monsoon from the north is called "Araba" district as for villages such as Tatugo that faces East China Sea, Ankiyaba, En, Kado, and Akina because the receiving wave is rough in winter. People had been entrusting the road of the income to Oshima pongee woven in the house because the sea was rough and they were not able to go out to catch fish. The weaving worker was coming from the Yoron insula and Tokunoshima, etc. to work away from home from 1955 to 40 years in villages such as Akina, En, and Kado.
There is a brook that is called "Toi water of Higo" in the Akina village.
