＃13キシィウワァ（喜瀬豚） 伝説の島豚#13 Kishiuwa (Kishiuwa pig) Island pig of legend
豚と言えば、鹿児島の黒豚や沖縄のアグーが知られていますが、鹿児島と沖縄の間に位置する奄美大島にもキシィウワァという伝説の島豚がいました。キシィは奄美大島北部の旧笠利町喜瀬集落のことで、ウワァは島の方言で豚という意味です。キシィウワァは、耳が大きく垂れた黒豚です。肉質が甘く、脂身もさっぱりしているため、肉特有のもたれた感じがなく、そのおいしさを求めて島内各地から客足が絶えませんでした。しかし、成長が遅く、小ぶりなため、昭和３０年以降、質より量を求める時代のながれに押されて消滅しました。A black pig in Kagoshima and Agu in Okinawa were known if it was said the pig, and Oshima Amami located between Kagoshima and Okinawa also had the island pig of the legend named Kishiuwa."Kishi" is an old Kasaricho Kise village in the northern part of Oshima Amami, and "Uwa" is a meaning of pig in the dialect of the island.
